12ft Trampoline With Enclosure
Home gym equipment is an expensive commodity which often finds itself relegated to a
cupboard or shed within a few months of purchase. We might make our equipment purchases with the best of
intentions, but all too often we simply neglect our intended exercise regime because its boring, or our lifestyles
are too hectic. Instead of a stepper or rowing machine which targets only specific core muscle groups, why not
check out the benefits of a 12ft trampoline with enclosure?
Aside from making your workout a fun activity that could become a social effort enjoyed with friends, a 12ft
trampoline is the ideal size to try out all number of aerobic and gymnastic workouts. The addition of a safety net
enclosure also means that you'll end up in a giggling heap should a move go wrong, rather than an injured mess on
the grass or concrete.
Using a stepper is ideal for an intensive cardiovascular workout, and can benefit you greatly in terms of losing
excess fat from the thighs, hips and lower body, however, to burn enough calories/ fat, you need to build up a
consistent, fast momentum that can be rather painful if you're relatively unfit. The core thigh muscles, known as
the quadriceps require gradual warm-up in order to function effectively and most people jumping on a stepper for
the first time will be far too over-enthusiastic, believing that speed is of the essence to work out
effectively.
As most personal trainers will tell you, the key to building yourself up for a workout is to warm-up prior to
intense exercise, stretching and flexing the muscles gradually. A trampoline is the ideal piece of equipment to do
so simply because, no matter how lightly you jump or bounce, the movement is affecting your muscles. You
effectively “warm up” without even realising.
With a surface area of 113ft, a 12ft trampoline with enclosure is the best option if you're deciding upon a size
for working-out. As well as being of ideal should you want to get fit with a friend or two, the 12ft option
benefits from around 35ft more surface area than a 10ft circular trampoline. Once you become accustomed to the kind
of workouts a trampoline offers, you'll be glad of the excess surface area when you start trying more adventurous
moves.
Larger surface area means more bounce. 12 foot trampolines typically feature far more evenly spaced springs than
their 10ft counterparts. Typically, a 12ft trampoline will have 75-82 individual springs, each measuring 8.5 inches
or so in length. The increased size in comparison to a 10ft model is designed so that the trampoline can
accommodate far more weight. A 10ft trampoline can usually only accommodate one or two persons, with a combined
weight of 100-120kg, where-as the 12ft option is usually designed for the use of several adults, or children at the
same time.
If you are looking for a trampoline to enjoy with friends, be sure to check the spring-count, as the more a
trampoline has, the more weight it is generally likely to accommodate. As with any size model, also check the frame
size, as frame thickness can also affect possible weight capacity. Buying a 12ft trampoline with enclosure nets, as
opposed to one without, also means the trampoline will be safety-ready for when young children are old enough to
enjoy fun fitness.
Not all safety enclosure nets are the same, and despite being made of reinforced, woven polyester fabric, the
tension and weight capacity varies considerably from brand to brand. A high tension, good quality safety-net is
vital for both the safety of yourself, friends or children, and can mean the difference between high force impact
between you and the ground, or against something which springs you back onto the trampoline.
The majority of quality brands design trampoline enclosures so that the netting fits within the perimeter of the
upright poles. The poles themselves often come with foam covers to ensure that if you do fall against them, you are
not liable to seriously injure yourself. Enclosure nets that fit within the perimeter of support poles are
generally of a higher tension too, designed to take the full impact of most adult weights.
Most trampoline safety nets are extremely easy to fit, and simply require bolting to the perimeter frame.
Despite featuring bolt mechanisms, you don't actually need to possess any tools in order to affix your net. Simply
tighten each bolt until the desired levels of tension are achieved around the entire trampoline, including the
entrance. The tighter the tension, the harder the rebound will be back onto the trampoline.
The other consideration when browsing for a 12ft trampoline with enclosure, should be the existence and quality
of perimeter matting. This is the covering designed to shield the outer frame of the trampoline around the entire
circumference. Primarily designed for safety, padded matting ensures no physical contact between the jumper and the
metal frame or springs, as well as shielding the trampoline elements from destructive heat and moisture. Quality
matting is usually made of coated fabric similar to P.V.C, and a coated fabric is less likely to rip or tear from
repeat impact, or people climbing onto the trampoline.
If you feel uneasy about clambering onto a trampoline for the first time in years, many 12ft models come
supplied with a ladder that simply hooks or bolts onto the perimeter frame. If you are of average height, an
ascension ladder is recommendable as larger trampolines tend to be quite high off the ground. Invest in a decent
quality crash mat or padded surface to lay at the base of the ladder should you ever teeter on those steps. You'll
be grateful of the soft landing surface!
Adopting a brand new exercise regime may seem like hard work, but using a 12ft trampoline with enclosure, you
can make your workout fun. For those who consider themselves relatively unfit, 10-20 minutes of contact bouncing
per day can provide a gentle cardio workout which will gradually improve muscle tone and core strength in your
legs.
As you become more confident, you will doubtless become more creative. Since trampolining has once again become
so popular, there have been a number of books and DVD’s released giving constructive and creative ideas for
trampoline exercises that will concentrate on problem areas. Invite over some of your friends to get motivated
together, and you'll find you never need to attend a spinning class again!
